Red grape varieties represent 75% of all grapes grown in the region, with the majority of Mount Benson devoted to Cabernet Sauvignon. There are also large plantings of Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. White varieties consist of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as Pinot Gris, Riesling, Semillon, Verdelho and Viognier. In January the region hosts the Cape Jaffa Seafood and Wine Festival. The popular event features wine tastings, fresh local seafood and showcases a variety of Mount Benson Wines.
